The number of cards to level up also varies by the rarity of the unit.

After you have completed all three training steps and have the correct number of cards, you can upgrade your unit to the next level. As units level up, the cost for training steps go up. Each unit level has 3 training steps before it's maxed out. Tap an individual unit to open the Unit Details dialog. See which cards are available in your Crates and the player level you need to unlock them.
